Amino Acids

Amino Acids are the "building blocks" of the body. Besides building cells and repairing tissue, amino acids form antibodies to combat invading bacteria & viruses; they are part of the enzyme & hormonal system; they build nucleoproteins (RNA & DNA); they carry oxygen throughout the body, and are part of all muscular activity.

  • L-Arginine: L-Arginine significantly contributes to insulin production, muscle metabolism, liver lipid metabolism, and is a component of collagen. It enhances the immune system, specifically by stimulating the thymus gland and the manufacture of T cells. This increase in T cell activity can be effective in fighting bacteria, viruses, cancer tumor cells, AIDS, chronic fatigue, and other immune system related health challenges. L-Arginine is a factor for maintaining the nitrogen balance in muscles; and can enhance the lean tissue to fat tissue body fat ratio; a great factor for weight management. L-Arginine also neutralizes ammonia, which helps in liver detoxification and regeneration. As a component of collagen, it can assist with wound healing, skin problems, arthritis, and connective tissue problems.
  • L-Glutathione: L-Glutathione levels decline with age and if not corrected will accelerate the aging process; so supplementation is important. L-Glutathione deficiency results in early aging and in the loss of coordination, balance, tremors, and mental disorders.
  • L-Phenylalanine: Used by the brain to produce dopamine and norepinephrine, chemicals that promote alertness, elevate mood, decrease pain, aid in memory and learning, and reduce hunger and appetite.
  • L-Tyrosine: Promotes the healthy functioning of the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands. Supresses the appetite and helps to reduce body fat. Research indicates L-Tyrosine may help chronic fatigue, narcolepsy, anxiety, depression, allergies, headaches, and Parkinson's disease.

Bilberry

With a long history of medicinal use, the dried fruit has been popular for the symptomatic relief of diarrhea, for topical relief of minor mucus membrane inflammation, and for a variety of eye disorders, including poor night vision, eyestrain, and myopia. Bilberries are a rich source of anthocyanosides, compounds which possess potent antioxidant properties which can protect capillaries from free radical damage. Anthocyanosides may also promote the formation of connective tissue through their protective effects on collagen synthesis and repair and, thus, may also improve vascular circulation.

Enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts to induce chemical changes in other substances without undergoing change themselves. As we age we decrease enzyme stores in our body, making digestion more difficult. The consequences of poor digestion leads to overall organ and gland burden, leading to the disease process.

Grape Seed

Grape Seed Extract is derived from the oil that comes from ground red wine grapes. This oil contains a substance called proanthocyanidin which has antioxidant activities, meaning it that it can protect cells from certain kinds of damage. Proanthocyanidins have also been shown to reduce cholesterol in patients with high cholesterol. Other substances within the grape seed may also help protect teeth from decay.

top

Graviola

Extracts of graviola have been shown to be effective against a number of viruses, bacteria and parasites in test tubes. Laboratory studies have also shown graviola to be effective against certain breast cancer cells that are resistant to the chemotherapy drug Adriamycin. It is thought that the extract is able to block the cancer cell's access to ATP, the source of energy for the cancer cell.

top

Maca

Maca root is in the same family as cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. Plants in this family contain chemicals called, "glucosinolates," which can be converted in the body to a substance that has been reported to inhibit certain kinds of cancer. In addition, studies have shown that maca is able to improve sexual performance and fertility without affecting serum hormone levels in the blood. It is possible that maca affects the receptors that these hormones bind to. Because maca affects the body through these hormones, it is assumed that it can produce effects in members of both sexes.

Probiotics

Healthy micro-organisms in the digestive tract, also called microflora, have a protective role in our bodies. As we grow older, the proportion of healthy microflora in our bodies declines and is less able to protect us from disease. Probiotics have been used for many years to increase the proportion of protective microflora and to prevent and improve many health conditions. In addition to its protective role, microflora helps to synthesize important vitamins, nutrients and enzymes as well as helping in detoxification.
